Submissions policy
House rules
Every submission is reviewed by a human before it's published. Here's what gets through and what doesn't.
What gets published
Real slang that real people actually say — current, vintage, or hyper-regional. Regional words are gold: if only your town says it, we especially want it. Swearing is fine; half of NZ's best vocabulary is unprintable elsewhere. Funny examples improve your odds enormously.
What gets binned
Definitions naming or clearly describing a private person — your mate, your ex, your teacher. That's not slang, that's defamation with extra steps, and it goes straight in the bin. Also binned: racism or attacks on any group of people, made-up words that nobody says (nice try), spam, and anything involving minors. Repeat offenders get blocked.
The fine print
By submitting, you're giving this site permission to publish and edit your entry. Your name (or nickname) appears on published entries; your email never appears anywhere and is only used to tell you when your word goes live. Takedown requests: use the contact details on the about page.
